NO HANDS

Make a sculpture without using your hands.

Objective: To experiment with material, process, and creative building methodologies.

You cannot use tools. But you can create a device to make a sculpture. You can set the

device in motion, or start the device, but your hands cannot be on the device when

creating the sculpture. WHAT NOT TO DO! Use a jackhammer to bust up concrete.

You can use other parts of your body to construct a sculpture, for example you can use

your mouth to manipulate material.Along with your sculpture write three sentences about your process.

Create a sculpture constructed from multiples of a single common object. You can choose to make it large, or small, and you can choose any item that you can get in bulk. You should be able to find things in packages of 100, 1000, or cheaply purchase as many as you need for the sculpture. While constructing the sculpture, please consider the material choices that you have made. Think about the “material history”, and why you chose this specific item to work with. What is the item used for? How does society view it? Are there any political, environmental, academic, or cultural meanings that might be discussed when your viewers see the piece.
